My Fashion Idols

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd share with you my personal fashion idols. These are people that I think dress interestingly and who's wardrobes I would die to raid!

MARY- KATE AND ASHLEY OLSEN

I love how these twins look as if they've made no effort whatsoever with their outfits. Effortless chic is the best way to dress, I think. Leggings with big baggy tops seem to be staple in their wardrobes and I love how they pair them with statement boots.
They may dress casual during the day but they can really step it up when it comes to formal wear. I love how they've chosen simple shapes and flowing fabrics. Their colour palette also seems to be very basic, but they pull it off by adding pops or clashing with other colours now and again.
Hair and make-up wise they again have two very different styles. A daytime look which features minimal make-up with very beachy tousled hair and a night time look with the same hair but dramatic make-up with a smokey eye and vampy red lip.
It's clear to see why these two are loved by so many girls for their uncomplicated individual style.

SHENAE GRIMES

It was so hard to put just a couple of pictures of Shenae in this blog because basically I love her. I adore her sense of style and want almost every one of her outfits! Here I've included one of her outfits from her character of Annie on 90210.
Again, she manages to create very simple outfits with a uncomplicated colour pallet of mainly blacks, whites  and creams.
In the first picture she's managed to combine textures; a soft feminine material on the skirt and a boyish rough leather jacket. But this really works and I would love to try and work this myself.
The second picture is a still shot from 90210. How amazing is this outfit?! A simple high waisted maxi skirt paired with a glittery crop top makes for a glamorous, sophisticated yet youthful outfit.
I also love her disco pants! She's showed how you can dress these pants up as well as down.

GILLIAN ZINSER

Yet another fashion idol of mine from 90210! I love Gillian's style and how she manages to reflect her surfer style from her character of Ivy in the show. And as I'm sure you can tell, she's another person who has that effortless sense of style.
In the top pictures, I love how she has paired a elegant maxi-skirt with a dressed down leather jacket or denim shirt. She's mixed styles, textures and colours in these outfits and it really works.
High-waisted denim shorts are one of my favorite thing to wear and she's paired them with a retro vintage tee.
Her third look is also very vintage. It looks like she's wearing a band tee with skinny jeans and cowboy boots. A simple colour palette but a really nice simple, effortless outfit.

MILEY CYRUS

Miley might be a odd choice to some of you. She has had some risky fashion mistakes, but I'm sure most of us have! Her overall sense of style however is vintage, boho and really fashionable.
I love how, in the first picture, she's teamed vintage round circle Ray Ban's with a simple tank and finished the look off with layering a few little necklaces.
I adore the next look. Vintage washed high-waisted jeans and a sleeveless flannel shirt. So so simple. I also love how she's just thrown her hair up into a messy bun as it continues the effortless look.
In the last picture, we can see how she manages to dress up elegantly for night time. She's picked a black almost crochet like skirt and paired it with a matching top. I think her showing a little bit of midriff keeps the outfit from being boring. It also keeps it youthful!

I really hope you've enjoyed this blog post. Taking inspiration from our favorite celebs can really develop our own sense of style and give us some new ideas. Even though we may not be able to afford designer clothes like them, we can still achieve their look on a high-street budget!

Cleaning your make-up brushes

Hi everyone,
Pretty self-explanatory title! So many people do not clean their make-up brushes. I've seen some make-up bags and the brushes inside are so dirty it really freaks me out. Cleaning your brushes regularly will not only kill bacteria and any germs but it will also help make your brushes work better and pick up more product as there won't be loads of old product clogged up inside the brush. Think how many germs you're gonna be putting on your face....gross!

So it's a really good idea to clean your brushes about once a month. I admit I don't clean my own brushes as often as I should but I'm going to start to from now! You can splash out on a really expensive cleaner, get a cheap basic one, or to save yourself even more money, you can even use baby shampoo or any gentle formula shampoo.

I use the ELF brush cleaner which cost me around £3 which I think is a total bargain. I washed my brushes today and this product really works well at getting all the old make-up off your brushes to get them perfectly clean.
Here are my steps on how to wash your make-up brushes.

1. Run about 1/2 a sink full of warm/hot water
2. Take your brush and dip it into the water to just get it a little bit wet
3.Squeeze about a pea sized amount onto the brush and massage in (for best results make sure you get right to the bottom of the brush)
4. Press the cleaner-covered brush into the water quite a few times to get all the old products off the brush
5. Repeat to make sure the brushes are completely clean
6. Once finished, gently squeeze out any excess water, shape back into the normal shape and leave to dry on a cloth until completely dry

I hope this has helped and will encourage you guys to clean your make-up brushes!

Ideas...

Hey everyone,
So so SO sorry for the lack of blogging recently. I've been unbelievably busy with school and uni choices and I've just finished my AS exams and finished Year 12! So I have about three weeks off until I go back to school so I thought- what a perfect time to get my blog going again!

I've been thinking a bit about the subjects I talk about in my blog. I love make up but I also love fashion. So i'm hoping to branch out my blog into talking about fashion as well as make-up. I think this would be really fun to do and I have loads of ideas relating to fashion such as trends, outfits of the days etc.

I hope everyone will like this new change and I can't wait to start!
